protontricks inconsistent behavior
When running
protontricks -l, I see the list of games correctly. When I run protontricks <appid> regedit, it says "Could not find configured Proton installation!". I'm lost on how to debug at this point.1 Reply
I think what is most confusing is that even though the game I'm testing with is using
Proton Experimental by default, protontricks can't find the prefix if I don't force a compatibility version.
This isn't a real fix, but what works is launching the game while using the PROTON_VERSION environment variable. If you aren't using your home directory for proton tricks, you'll need to use flatseal to make sure it has access to whatever drive you are using.
