VAN RESTRICTION 1 for over a month
Hi guys, this will be a very long post so I will apologize for it right away.
All started in October 23, 2025, as I said over a month ago. I was playing normally on my account and after a while, since we have only my computer here at home, my brother wanted to play too. He switched to his account and the VAN RESTRICTION 1 popped up.
The pop up said that the restriction was up because the Secure Boot verification couldn't be verified. So I took the matters in my hands and searched on the web how to fix it. As you can imagine, I took every step of the RIOT Official guide on how to fix this restriction, so I activated the Secure Boot, I even replaced the key to make them factory key, my BIOS mode was already on UEFI, the TPM was already enabled (version 2.0), my Memory Integrity was enabled and Hypervisor was disabled via bcdedit. But it still wouldn't run Valorant.
So I figured that I should send a ticked to RIOT directly, so maybe we could've fix this with them. And that's when the frustration started.
The first rioter who helped me, told me to enable the Memory Integrity. As I said previously I already had, so I responded to them that my Memory Integrity was already enabled, and I asked if I had to update my BIOS at this point.
The second rioter who helped me, told me to update my BIOS and let them know if that worked. But then another message popped up when I tried launching the game:
“An IOMMU restriction has been applied, however a system restart is required to complete initialization.”
I restarted my computer multiple times and this message was still popping up on my screen. After a lot of rebooting, the message changed and told me to update my BIOS. So I did, without hesitation. At this point a few days passed and I wanted to play so badly that I tried literally everything.
I updated my ticket with all of this information (IOMMU and update of the BIOS).

The third rioter came in, and he told me to check in msinfo32 the BIOS mode and the Secure Boot State, and send them the screenshots. It kinda felt like a joke to be honest. I get that they get a lot of tickets but this was kinda sad for me to go through.
That's when my girlfriend came in too because she had the same problem and she resolved it really easily. In her services was a "vgc" service that every time she launched VALORANT it kept shutting down, giving her the VAN RESTRICTION 1. So she figured if she resolved by setting it to "Automatic", why couldn't I, right? So we did, and it didn't work. When I launched VALORANT it kept shutting down. So I updated the ticket once again telling them all of this.
At this point the forth rioter who answered told me that this restriction remain on the account to prevent cheating and protect gameplay integrity, that it lasts for 30 days since I first received it and it will be lifted automatically. They also said that this restriction doesn't last more than 30 days.
This is where I thought the situation was ridiculous, to be honest. So I wrote another follow up to the ticket asking about what kind of restriction they were talking about since the initial problem talked about another thing and that I had other problems on the way til now. I even asked why they just didn't tell me this before and what if this restriction keeps popping up even after the 30 days? Even asked about the exact time this restriction will be lifted, because they said that if I tried to enter again the restriction will restart the "countdown" of 30 days.
The fifth rioter answered me that this "penalty is more of a secure measure", that I just have to wait out and that "the suspension will expire on 23.11.2025 - 20:28:47 UTC".
I updated the ticked once again thanking all the rioters and asking them what caused the restriction to go up so I can avoid this thing in the future.
The sixth rioter told me that this restriction was put on my account due to "suspicious activities" and if I log in another account the restriction would not be there.
But I logged in with my brother account and the restriction was still there, on my account and on his. I updated the ticked with this information, even saying that I did not open any suspicious app or anything else that might have triggered it. I play this game almost since release and did not have a problem once with this type of things, because I don't cheat.
And the seventh and last rioter told me that in this case, if it happens even on my brother account on the same pc, then my brother account must have this restriction too so he has to wait too. And this rioter couldn't tell me when the restriction lifted from his account because he said he just couldn't know, but the fifth rioter could so I'm confused at this point.
But still, the ticked was closed as resolved and I waited the 30 days.
Once the 30 days finally passed I was ready to hop on the game and play with my friends and my girlfriend again. And I amazingly did. I did just one game then my brother wanted to play too, so if the restriction was lifted for me it was lifted for him too, right?
Guess what. That exact same restriction started to pop up again. Not only on his account, because I tried to log in in mine after this and it was applied on my account once more too.
I know this can be a bit messed up, I even did a post on reddit and I am waiting for a response but maybe here I can have one too.

van 1 is secure boot failure right ?
It's more complicated than that. At least for me. The message and the request would not be that long if it was that simple.
