Does it integrate with sk-charts

Does it integrate with sk-charts provider (= storing mbtiles to the charts-folder configured in sk-charts-provider) or does it works as alternative?

Hello Chris, thanks for your response. As I already stated: I have great respect for the @signalk/charts-plugin. Initially I had the idea to improve the existing project, but quickly realized, that the main focus is on DIY-mbtiles, which is the exact opposite of what I tried to achieve. The only similarity this two plugins have is to serve charts to the Resource API. Each of them can work individually and bring their own provider. They can happily coexist, when v2 API is used, like Freeboard-Sk does. When you use the same "chart folder" as @signalk/charts-plugin is possible, just @signalk/charts-plugin will not be able to serve charts from subfolders and you might end up in duplicates, that can confuse a non-tech user coming from B&G, Raymarine etc. So best would be: Own chart folder for each of the plugins. - Use signalk-charts-provider-simple for up/downloading ready mbtiles - Use @signalk/charts-plugin for DIY-mbtiles

Ok, thank you. But isn't adding "ready" mbtiles to the standard charts-plugin not as easy as simply copying them to the charts folder? That's what I remember.

If you are happy with what you got it will do no harm to stick with it. When running the RPI headless and/or limited Linux knowledge is available this provides - as the name says - a SIMPLE approach do this from a web browser.

Cool, now we have several chart plugin options, work on the resource provider system by @AdrianP is paying off! Being able to do everything over web is a definitie advantage. (I don’t see how th charts plugin would be about diy mbtiles - it does not care where the files come from) and has now support for caching online chart sources for offline use. Then there’s the pmtiles plugin adding support for protomaps format
