Can I prefetch data to prevent layout shift when expanding content?

I have a component that is rendered when a collapsible component is expanded. The data in that component loads and flashes the content for a quick second before it loads. If I can't preload data, can I preload the component?

Wasp doesn’t currently have a documented, built‑in way to declaratively prefetch data for a component or page to avoid layout shift. There is an open RFC discussing exactly this idea: binding queries to pages/components so Wasp would fetch them before render and let you define separate LoadingLoading/FailureFailure UI, inspired by Redwood “Cells”. From the available information:

Today, queries are implemented via react‑query “pretty transparently”, and cache invalidation / optimistic updates are still being actively designed. [Query invalidation]
There’s no documented Wasp DSL feature yet that says “prefetch this query before this component or collapsible renders”.

So:

You can manage this yourself imperatively in React by calling the query earlier (e.g. when the page mounts, or when the user hovers/focuses the trigger for the collapsible) and holding the result in local state, as discussed in the optimistic‑UI thread where queries are called manually and their results stored in component state. There is no documented mechanism to “preload the component” itself via Wasp’s DSL; route-level lazy loading is actually an open feature request, not something you can rely on yet. [Lazy routes issue]

Because the docs and issues don’t describe a dedicated prefetch/preload API, any solution right now has to be done with plain React patterns (calling the query before expansion and storing the data yourself).
