After Removing a Layered Package, Bootloop
So, I had a weird series of issues. I'm using a System72 laptop that has been running Bazzite for a few months now, and I upgraded to Bazzite 43. After rebooting, everything worked fine, and the upgrade had gone smoothly. I realized then that I had a package still installed I didn't want anymore -- I had switched password managers from enpass to bitwarden. So, I did
I then turned my computer off, as I had to run to the airport. That means I didn't reboot after the ostree operation, but I did let it complete before shutting down. However, upon turning it back on, I am now stuck in a boot loop. The keyboard and power button light up, and some text appears on the screen but before I can read it, the computer fully turns off -- and then reboots itself once again, doing this over and over again. I was unable to get into GRUB with the delete key -- though I was able to get into the EFI bios by mashing escape. Once there, there was another Fedora image (presumably a rollback), but attempting to boot into that led to the exact same behavior.
Is this because of the
rpm-ostree remove enpass. This also removed a package called gc, which appears to be a garbage collector. I'm assuming there's nothing default in the Bazzite image that depends on it, otherwise it wouldn't have been removed.I then turned my computer off, as I had to run to the airport. Is this because of the
gc package being removed when it shouldn't have been, or is that a false positive? I'm removing enpass from my Steam deck as well, and while my laptop is somewhat expendable I'd really rather not have to start over on my deck.
