Gamemode failing to launch on fresh install of bazzite-deck

I performed a fresh install of bazzite-deck recently (chose the HTPC, AMD, KDE setup from the official site) and it boots into KDE. Attempting to switch to game mode causes a black screen for a bit, then goes back to KDE and makes me sign back into Steam. Is this a known issue or is there something with my system that isn't compatible?
