Fresh bazzite install on Framework 16 fails to launch game-mode

I have installed bazzite on my FW16 and chose to boot straight into game-mode. However the new install will only boot into desktop-mode. Even when I hit the "Return to Gaming Mode" Button it will just restart the Desktop-Mode.
Launching the big picture mode from desktop works fine. Any Ideas on what could be going on here?
