java.net.URL.toExternalForm() need help because IDE says location is null
my file that I am trying to load (a .png file) is not properly loading because location is null even though it is in the resources folder

DIs the resource in the classpath root or next to the class?
DIf the resource is relative to the classpath root, you should use the (or prepend it with a )
DIf it's relative to the class, you shouldn't do that
DAlso, make sure to not use
