Dropdown option and input history

I have an input field here where it shows the options (listed in ul) that will appear when the input is selected. Problem is, in Chrome on a Desktop at least, the input history is also showing up.
Question is, what the correct way of handling this situation. BTW, the way my list works is it filters it based on the input, so if the user typed 'OK' and out of 20 items, only 5 has 'OK' in it, those are the only ones that will appear.
I guess my question is more about, what's the best practice in this scenario? Leave it as is or should the history not appear, or is there another solution?
