Reload clients on new deployment

Is there a standard way of automatically reloading a browser tab when a new deployment goes out? I've been out of js world for a bit and am working on a new project for a client and chose start (among other tanstack libraries :))

I'm deploying on vercel with nitro. I tried to find something on vercel because that seems like something they'd have built in but I just kept getting nextjs and nuxt results, nothing about vercel itself or vite

i think i saw someone solve this by having a version number being accessible by api, and then a background processes just checking if the UI version is diff from the server version, every so often. (prolly can use a tanstack query for this).

Yeah, the manifest is also "public" i believe, so you can generate the mainfest and check for missmatch and force a reload.

My problem with this is that you need to constantly check it heavly ( like every interaction ) , i believe Vercel uses a header for this.

I think there are 2 things to do. A interaction check (basically whenever you use server functions / apis). That check should be cheap (like super cheap). And then a background check every like 1 or more. Depends on how acceptable it is to have a mismatch

yeah the feature seems much more hosting related than stack related. though there may be plans, but i doubt it

yeah, there is also cases where that might not work, example a chunk that loads asynchronous doesn’t exists anymore, in theory your interaction should catch this, but can still error out ( i think )
