How to wash HeatTech socks

Might be a stupid question but it’s been pissing me off
I wear Uniqlo heattech socks basically all winter but every pair I buy goes all tense and matted after only a few washes, like a wool sweater that’s been washed too hot(which is super weird bc they don’t even have wool in them)
I tried washing them cold, on a gentle cycle but they keep doing that thing
Does anyone have suggestions on how to avoid that or is that just something heattech socks do?
