"Desktop" folder not matching my "visible/screen" desktop

Hello,
I'm discovering Linux with Bazzite (KDE) coming from W10 and I don't understand the link between the folder "desktop" (/home/User/Desktop/) and the... well screens "desktop".
For example:
* If I add a file in /home/User/Desktop/ it is not visible on any of my 2 screens, nor any link to it.
* If in steam I use the option "add a desktop shortcut" on a game, the shortcut will be visible on /home/User/Desktop/ but not on the desktop.
* The only way to actually put something on the "screen" desktop is to drag-drop it there.
My researchs with the word "desktop" led nowhere. What am I missing?
