Hi all,

I'm trying to remove some characters from a string, so

replace

replace

seems the way to go.

It seems that the code below should work, right? It simply doesn't

const attribute = "__asdf__";
console.log(attribute.replace("/^_+|_+$/g", ""));

const attribute = "__asdf__";
console.log(attribute.replace("/^_+|_+$/g", ""));

Am I missing something?

If anyone is curious, I'm using this playground.

String.prototype.replace() - JavaScript | MDN

The replace() method of String values returns a new string with one, some, or all matches of a pattern replaced by a replacement. The pattern can be a string or a RegExp, and the replacement can be a string or a function called for each match. If pattern is a string, only the first occurrence will be replaced. The original string is left unchanged.
