launch cyberpunk from epic directly through steam?

I'm trying to setup steam input on cyberpunk so i can use flick stick. I bought cyberpunk through the epic games store and now have it installed through heroic. I am on linux.
When I add cyberpunk to steam through heroic's add to steam button, steam input just doesn't work, it's not active, I'd assume because steam doesn't consider the game to be "running" because the command tells heroic to launch the game then stops.
My question then, is: is there any way to launch non-steam cyberpunk directly through steam (ex, passing in the exe), so I can use steam input with the game?
I tried just giving steam the cyberpunk2077 exe as a non-steam game, but that didn't launch.
I tried using to bash launcher, but the launch script didn't work for me, my best guess is because I have cyberpunk installed on an external drive maybe?
