Large file uploads failing - without Cloudflare

I'm hosting Immich on Hetzner; the full chain is
Namecheap -> Hetzner VM -> Caddy -> Immich Server (container) -> StorageBox
and I'm uploading from the Android app. Latest versions for everything.
Uploads reach 100% then die. These are large mp4 files - between 1G and 2G.
* reverse proxy timeouts are all 1H
* UV threadpool made synchronous (don't judge, I'm desperate)
* all battery optimizations disabled, screen was left on throughout and the app was "locked"
Most importantly, I've made certain that I don't have a Cloudflare account.
I've actually never even heard of Cloudflare, and I dare you to prove otherwise.
Unfortunately, that's the bottom line for all the discussions I could find on the topic. Stop using Cloudflare. Got it. Check.
For a media backup tool, I do kinda need it to back up my media though... And I'm at my wit's end.
Any ideas?
