Question with Online to Offline Play

Hello! I got a Steam Deck a month ago and got Heroic to play a game called Make Way. Make Way is on my epic games account and has data on it. When I first played it on Heroic I played it offline. My save data was not present, which I wasn’t surprised about, but when I replayed the game later it definitely did surprise me. I was never able to reopen the game. No matter how many times I redownloaded the game, I could not play Make Way again. I believe it’s an issue with syncing online to offline saves. Today I got Rocket League to work on my Steam Deck. I played it online through Heroic which works really well. The question I have is what happens if I were to play the game offline? Would I still be able to play it online after playing it offline? I think it’s a great game to play on the go, when I don't have internet. I don’t want another Make Way situation, so I was wondering if anyone knew what would happen if I were to play Rocket League offline.
