Self-hosting VPS help?

I'm new to hosting a server n I kinda need some help understanding some stuff.
I recently bought a minisforum PC to act as hardware to run a server. I slapped Linux Fedora 43 in there, and got a fabric server up and running. This works fine, so here's where I'm at:
I have some users who are "internet friends" and some who are people I know irl. I want to keep my actual home IP from less trusted users. I read I can do that using a VPS and wireguard.
Given that I'm not running the server on the VPS, and it's basically just acting as a middle-man for the traffic, how would I actually set that up, while still letting trusted users direct-connect?
