Rocket League controller issues on macOS (Heroic + Whisky / GPTK)
🍎macOS
Hey, I’m having controller issues with Rocket League on macOS and I’m kinda stuck. Hoping someone here can confirm if this is a known limitation or if there’s something I missed.
Setup:
macOS Sequoia
Heroic Launcher 2.19.1
Wine runtime: Whisky 2.5.5 (also tested GPTK)
Rocket League (Epic Games)
Controller: Ant Esports G115 (3-mode: PS3 / Xbox 360 / Android, wired USB)
What happens:
In Whisky, the controller sometimes used to work, but Rocket League never showed “Controller Connected”
In GPTK, the controller is detected, but all bindings are completely wrong and cannot be remapped
Installing xinput via winetricks did not help
Rebinding inside Rocket League doesn’t work (inputs are scrambled / ignored)
Heroic UI gamepad navigation works, but the game itself doesn’t get usable input
Extra info:
macOS detects the controller correctly
Issue happens whether the Wine prefix is on internal storage or USB
The controller worked once before after a fresh prefix, but stopped after reconnects / updates
Looks like Rocket League is receiving raw DirectInput and rejecting it
Question: Is this a known limitation with:
Heroic on macOS
Epic Rocket League
or multi-mode / non-official controllers?
Is Steam Input the only reliable workaround here, or is there any way to force proper XInput/SDL mapping for this setup?
