awful fps ever since UE5 update

last time i played, i believe in november last year i had a consistent 200+ fps capped at 144
but now after reinstalling the game, my fps is somewhere between 100-120 with spikes to 60-70 ish
could ue5 update be the issue?
im using a laptop with an i5 12450h, rtx 2050, 16gb of ram, and im using ethernet
