On my son's PC, I have had a series of very odd bugs.
The first to show up was the computer spontaneously jumping to the lock screen about 1 minute after logging in. Then after entering the password, the system would hard freeze, being unresponsive to mouse & keyboard.
I searched online for some possible solutions, and the only fix I saw that was close was to change the power settings so it doesn't automatically go to lock screen (was previously set to 15 minutes of inactivity). I managed to do this in the first few seconds after booting into the OS before it auto-locked.
This fix seemed to work. However...
Ever since this glitch, Steam has decided to simply stop launching games. I hit the play button and it seems like it's trying to launch (play changes to a "Cancel" button), but then after a few seconds it just goes back to the play button.
I tried updating, rebooting, re-installing Steam, selecting different versions of Proton, and none of his games will launch.
I have never had this issue on my Bazzite PC, and his computer has been working fine since I switched it from Windows 10 to Bazzite ~4 months ago.

Does anyone know what might be causing this?
