Steam games minimizing when switching windows

hey all, I'm having this small problem where where every time i switch between screens, Steam games get minimized instead of staying on screen. when they get minimized, it's as if the game isn't running, as I can't select the game screen on discord to stream it. is there a way to change this configuration?
below are my hardware specs. I'm running Steam games on a Lenovo Legion laptop. thanks in advance for your help!
