I've been troubleshooting for days now trying to figure this out... so any help or suggestions would be much appreciated. I acquired this very abused Asus laptop and am trying to give it a second life with bazzite.
Hardware: ASUS TUF A16 FA617NS motherboard (Ryzen 7 7735HS + RX 7600S) running outside laptop chassis as a custom HTPC build. No internal display, keyboard, trackpad, or battery connected. Powered via original barrel jack adapter. Problem: After installing Bazzite (desktop/HTPC ISO), there is no display output via HDMI or USB-C after first boot. The Bazzite live ISO boots perfectly and gives full display output on the same hardware with the same cables. Key finding: Live ISO runs kernel 6.18.9, installed system has kernel 6.17.7. Ethernet also works on live ISO but not on installed system, suggesting the kernel version difference may be the root cause. Already tried:
Multiple kernel parameters in ostree-1.conf options line: video=eDP-1:d, amdgpu.dc=1, nomodeset Both laptop and desktop/HTPC Bazzite ISOs HDMI to two different monitors, USB-C to HDMI SSH via onboard ethernet and USB ethernet adapter — no connection on installed system
Question: Is there a way to update the kernel on the installed system from outside (via live ISO/chroot) or force the installed system to use the same kernel as the live ISO? EDIT: Also, bazzite is the only ISO I've been able to get to boot. I've tried ventoy, linux mint, windows and still get no signal. EDIT: forgot to mention that I have not been able to get into the bios. I've tried pretty much anything. my hope is to get another os booted so I can get into the bios to see if there's something going wrong in there.
