VOh, this is something that I've been following for a while back on ED forums. So glad it came to life like this. I just hope that in near future there will be a option to just mount (not necessarily support) VKB grips. I do have MGC Ultimate and it blows Virpil stick completely out of the water. Virpil is way too small for my hand and its switches are too mushy. So if there will be a way to just mount it on Rhino base with me routing the connection to the blackbox separately, it would be great.

WThe trim release is all handled by DCS natively. The Rhino doesn't currently have HW trim in firmware (which would be useful if the game doesn't support FFB natively)

(native directinput FFB)Fanother benefit in DCS is that trim release also commands the internal FCS system (in the Ka-50 for instance). it's not like with the Brunner, trimmed from the "outside", which basically only forces the stick to stay in a certain position.

WLent my vkb base to a friend, so nothing from me unfortunately. I modeled an adapter for grips but that likely isn't useful and I can't guarantee accuracy (did fit fine on my gimbal)

WYeah that'd be useful, I could develop an adapter to help route the signal wires to the black box

AWhat’s the max resistance possible with the current ffb setup?
AI was looking at building my own using hoverboard motors I’ve modified. I can push around 10nm from them but haven’t ran the calc for max force after gearing. Also not sure they will have anywhere near the response the 86blf motors will
WThe 86BLF03 does around 3.3-3.5Nm, the 86BLF04 up to around 3.8-4Nm

AThat’s one of the big concerns I have with the hoverboard motors. I can foresee a lot of issues with them. May end up just going to the F04
WYeah these motors have a few very good properties - coils are on the outside, meaning the case makes a very good heatsink and good mounting for the driver board to cool the transistors into the motor - one nice clean package as a result :)
WBut they are coggy as hell in their natural state, but that is taken care of
