Library: asset count not correct because of hidden files?
Hi,
I added two external folders to my libraries to test them. There are around 780 photos inside those two folders. The library setting overview only provides me with a number of 3200 assets. Supposed that a single asset is a photo or video. The value of 3200 would be too much.
Another observation I did, is that the timeline also shows me the images in March 2023, while the photos were taken in 2013. The metadata also indicates it. If I scroll down to 2013, the images are also there.
More research and the images in 2023 seem to be SYNO.thumbs made by my Synology Nas in Synology Photos.
These assets are not seen in any way through network shares or directly in Nas.
It's probably some Linux related stuff. I think it's some kind of hidden file, like windows has.
But is there a way for the library functionality to not use hidden files?

ML models User accounts
Hi,
Does the ML model use its "knowledge" to identify faces on other user accounts. So if "User A" would have had 1000 photos of "random person" with all faces connected.
Would "User B" have benefits from that when he/she adds images from "random person"?
Kind regards,
Squirrel

Downloading shared album Video files
Hi,
I haven't found an issue in Git nor do I know if it's by design. So that's why I ask.
I downloaded a shared album to my PC. It also introduced all the small encoded video files from Android motion videos.
I suppose they're still inside the images themself. But having them individually is quite a lot.
Is this done by design? Otherwise I could maybe make an issue in Git?

planning to split different phone albums?
Hi there,
I was wondering if there are plans to differentiate between different albums where photos are uploaded from the phone
EG Seeing if a photo is from the Camera itself or whatsapp.
I got to this, because I tried to create an album for a holiday I had.
But there are whatsapp images going mixed with it, which are also related to the holiday but I don't want them in that album.
Simple solution would be to only backup camera images. But then, the point is to back them up.

Corrupt asset check
Hi,
I was doing some testing with the application. I wanted to re-backup all my images from my phone to the server again.
So what I did, I removed just the whole library of the images of the account from where my server stores the images.
There doesn't really seem to happen anything with that though. I remember vaguely something about a feature for watching the folder for changes. So that explains that.
But then, I wondered about the checking of corrupt assets. Because first with images, clicking the button inside the mobile app would instantly be done. So expect it to be okay. But now, with a empty library, the effect is the same.
So I was wondering how that function works. Does the check only happen on images that are newly added? Shouldn't it detect also when a image is corrupt or not even there even if the server says it's there.
Maybe I'm getting ahead in terms of functionally. But I'm curious
Thanks in advance 🙂
