pretty sure it's a permissions issue. I've done rm -rf on the directories that get created in /var/lib, but they keep coming back up. I've tried setfacl, but all in all, I'm out of my depth, i think

so the goal is to have my data not take up space in my root partition, so I want to set the location to my home partition. I've nuked what you suggest. if the directory doesn't already exist, i get that error so i create the file, and use setfacl to give immich traversal rights to my home directory, but the directory isn't there so I crate the directory, and chown and chmod it, but:
ices:StorageService] Failed to create /home/ben/immich/encoded-video/.immich: Error: EACCES: permission denied, mkdir '/home/ben/immich/encoded-video'
ices:StorageService] Failed to create /home/ben/immich/encoded-video/.immich: Error: EACCES: permission denied, mkdir '/home/ben/immich/encoded-video'
perhaps nuke everything, get it making the immich directory in /var/lib, then move it to where i want it, reconfigure, and restart?

cheers. Sanity check: Should rm -f /var/lib/postgresql do the trick, or am I missing something in my naivety?

okay, I'll go look up how to do that. For reference, I did rm-rf on /var/lib/immich, redis-immich and the postgresql directory. Is that a scenario where I should be doing my own legwork, or is it reasonable to ask for a bit of direction?
