Foreign Key Constraint violation on delete?
Also, I have only used the API to download and create albums. All my deletes have been in the GUI.

oof. i was tinkering around in the DB for persons a few days ago and managed to (I believe) not hose my system. I have been watching and have not seen any errors like that EVER in the past few weeks since I have been using it. adding/removing/images etc to get everything dialed in. So i would say that is NOT normal.

i see the schema has ON DELETE CASCADE is some places so it shouldn't be terrible to mess with the db.

NAS completely froze overnight
in general linux mostly hangs because of memory. synology is probably btrfs so that could be causing it to crash, though I've only seen generic linux kernels (not synology) crash from btrfs.

immich can be a resource hog when loading it up with images. check your memory limits on immich to make sure it doesn't crash your system. maybe you need more memory .

Immich (Docker) compressing iPhone ProRAW DNG — how to preserve full original file?
seems like a problem with the app? did you search github for an issue? I don't recall seeing any setting to fix something like this myself.
