Safe to use immich without backup?
Is it safe to use immich mobile app without having it backup photos? I am wanting to give people I know accses to immich so they can use immich for sharing photos instead of uploading all there photos so I was wondering if it is possible to make the mobile app only upload select photos and trust that it's not going to suddenly start automatically uploading everything.

Safe to replace photo and video files?
Is it safe to manually replace the photo and video files? There is a replace thing on the website but it replaces all info like descriptions and dates which I dont want it todo.
I am asking this as I am wanting to re encode some videos and photos
