i just always like t

[2021-11-10 06:42:28 PM] : i just always like to look at examples of other people who are doing a good job selling a similar thing, partly because i believe i’m more likely to be able to sell something if people can easily recognize the thing i’m selling as being apples-to-apples to the things they’ve already bought in the past

is there an article

[2021-11-10 03:42:28 PM] : is there an article on the 30x500 blog about how "uglier" websites are actually sometimes better / more trustworthy? I feel like I read one but can't find it

[2021-11-09 05:47:40 PM] : alex I'm curious what your thoughts are on how soon after finishing the Pain. Where and how do you find it? section of the course should you move on to Found Pain? Now use it for good. ? Am I right in thinking I should keep moving forward in the lessons, even if I have only done 5-10 sales safari's so far, or I should get closer to the 50 sales safari attempts you mentioned before moving onto Found Pain? Now use it for good. ? I've been making good progress so f...

[2021-11-08 06:41:00 AM] : If any of you are feeling creative, I'm after eBomb format ideas... The context is that I've done a webinar, then emailed everyone to ask if they had any followup questions and if they did I've offered to collate these and share them back with everyone. I've had quite a few replies. I'm now wondering the best method to answer all these questions for everyones benefit. The obvious thing is to write them all out in a pdf. But some people have said they were embarrassed t...

I don't think this i

[2021-11-05 02:43:18 PM] : I don't think this is 100% exhaustive but it's a pretty solid overview. I'd welcome questions, as well as any suggestions of steps that you've found useful that either a) aren't in this yet or b) that you've come up with on your own that have helped you make the most of your Safari time.

Also, go back to you

[2021-11-04 09:07:29 PM] : Also, go back to your old notes to refresh your memory of what was in them through the lens of the new insights you've gained. Often patterns will jump out that weren't obvious the first time.

i'd put that in the

[2021-11-03 12:38:38 PM] : i'd put that in the "synthesis" step of Safari, though we don't explicitly say to create a master doc like that I can see it being a useful reference.

I'm looking to spend

[2021-11-02 02:53:49 PM] : I'm looking to spend a few hundred dollars of learning budget by EOY and also want to strategically make some tax deductible business purchases to invest in growing my venture before the EOY. I'm a web developer and in terms of my niche I mostly create content about JavaScript / React and GitHub / open source. I want to hunker down and explore combining art with technical concepts to teach others for ebombs and paid products. A good portion of my income this year (outside of my full-time job) can be attributed to writing technical articles for companies and technical speaking engagements. Do you have any recommendations for some physical or digital products that could be worth my while to explore purchasing before EOY?...

[2021-11-01 09:42:20 PM] : I wanted to give a shout-out to jasonswett and Stéfanni Brasil for their podcast episode. I've been a long-time member of the 30x500 community and have never been able to fully commit to the process for various reasons. I recently decided I needed to start working through the materials again and their discussion of 30x500 came at just the right tim...

when i have an ebomb

[2021-11-01 04:18:17 PM] : when i have an ebomb that answers a specific question that i encountered in a watering hole then i can of course just share the ebomb as a response to the question and that’s great when that happens. but a lot of my blog posts are neither an answer to a specific question nor narrow enough to qualify for e.g. a specific subreddit. i’m afraid i may be wasting an opportunity by only sharing those ebombs in the above 3 places

this is a little bit

[2021-11-01 04:16:31 PM] : this is a little bit of a long shot but does anyone know of a good place to promote programming blog posts where self-promotion doesn’t get you in trouble? there are only 3 places i can think of but it seems like there must be more: 1. my own email list 2. twitter 3. hacker news...

[2021-11-01 02:11:21 PM] : i gotcha, sorry if I misunderstood!

[2021-10-31 03:54:17 PM] : my audience is nominally "Python programmers" but many wouldn't describe themselves that way, but rather as "bioinformatician" or "data scientist" or "biologist", because it's a tool for them, not a career

[2021-10-29 09:00:27 AM] : ```Hello I'm posting because I know several people here are not native English speakers and I'd like to get your thoughts please. Firstly, you have my greatest respect. I'm currently living on a Spanish island trying to learn Spanish. Picking up a second language as an adult feels very hard. Being able to communicate in 2 or more languages looks like a superpower from here. My wife is thinking of offering a service to edit articles for people who want to reach an international audience but aren't as confident in their writing as they'd like to be. She'd take your English article and edit it to read as if it was written by an English speaker....

[2021-10-19 08:57:41 PM] : If it helps, think of a mixtape as a "mode" for your newsletter. It's like going from driving fully manual to flipping on cruise control. If you're in the passenger seat, you can't really tell the difference and you're still on the trip!

I've seen this quest

[2021-10-19 08:59:18 AM] : I've seen this question of "nobody bought my product, should I start over?" once or twice recently. One big thing I do to understand the value of a product before I put it up for sale is to get a trusted friend to use the product and make sure it's actually bringing value to them. In general I find if the product helps 1 person, it'll help many other people too. I've also started asking for feedback from a group of beta readers (maybe 20 people from my mailing list) who I send a draft to. That helps with my confidence a lot too....

[2021-10-17 09:24:12 AM] : One particular situation I'm finding particularly regular (and annoying) is people reaching out to me directly (and privately) with very specific requests, like asking me to go over some piece of code they wrote and is not working for them. I currently offer a paid consultation service but it didn't get as many sales as I'd expect. Am I alone in this or this something common to experience?
