It is more than just reimplementing part of the CDN on Workers.. Right now Workers are basically build on top of the CDN, which is nginx + a massive amount of custom lua, plugins etc. But they are basically going to flip it.. where there is basically only a tiny bit of nginx left to do SSL and after that it is all Workers.. and basically the entire CDN will be build on top of it..

They can still have the fastest execution engine.. saving a bunch of microseconds compared to running on V8
