[SOLVED] rebuilt my PC no video

I just rebuilt my old PC so I can record better. I got a new motherboard, power supply graphics card and ram. I'm new to building pcs but I figured it out and all the fans water cooler and graphics card are lit up and running. When I plug in my HDMI it doesn't recognize any video output whether I plug it into my graphics or motherboard HDMI. Any help would be appreciated

Are the fans spinning or are there any lights on the GPU? Could just be a case of needing to install drivers which is usually done automatically on first boot if you have an internet connection. Most mobos have onboard graphics, you can use that temporarily to see if there are any issues with boot, installation etc. If you've let it sit for a while and still nothing is installing you can go to the GPU manufacturer's website and find the correct drivers for your mobo and GPU and install them manually. If that fails to work, I would go back through and double check everything is plugged in properly

Ah I just seen you said you tried the mobo. Have you tried a different HDMI cable? Maybe try a DVI cable if your mobo/GPU and monitor support it

Does your GPU require a 2nd 6-pin connector?

I don't have a 3prong as far as I can tell

Not sure what you mean?

It's a 2 by 3 plug all I have is a 2x4

Does your GPU require it? I know some don't, but some do. That is a 1080 right?

I would do a quick look at the manual (can find one online) for your specific card and see if it's required or not. Could be getting enough juice to power the fans and leds, but not enough to power then entire card

It's 650w I was told that was more than enough

Also, what did you mean by this? Still not sure how you're able to see if anything is downloading or not. You could have a 1000w PSU, but if your GPU requires the 2nd 6pin it still isn't going to work You can get 650w PSU with 2 8pin connectors

It said power down and install pcie Which probably means that second pin set

Can you get a photo of that?

Avg650 Aresgames 80plus bronze U say 8 pin but it has a 6 pin The pcie chord extends into another 8 pin but it won't fit Unless there's an adaptor I can buy

Yeah they're called 8pin connectors, don't worry about that You should have a cable like this

probablyraging•2y ago
It will/should fit. You can "detach" 2 of the pins from both plugs
MercuryCookie
MercuryCookie•2y ago
Would it be the third one in or something Or a separate line
probablyraging
probablyraging•2y ago
Nah, the cable I showed above, usually you can slip 2 of the pins away from the main connector
probablyraging
probablyraging•2y ago
They sort of slot into each other

What does this button do And should I install Nvidia control
probablyraging
probablyraging•2y ago
Nice. Uh without checking the mobo, I would say that is a BIOS flash, you would insert a USB with BIOS firmware and flash it to update, but I wouldn't recommend as you can brick your mobo
