Anyone else seem to get alot of forward stick with the DCS F14? As though the stick centre is off? I'm sure its a problem with the module, just wondering if there is a fix I've missed..

Yeah. But I think the stick position is incorrectly modeled, or maybe a case of tuning forward and back throw distances in VPForce...

When the stick ingame is positioned perpendicular to the floor, the actual physical position of the stick is actually way forward..

Just looking at the real F14 stick.. it looks as though the grip is not collinear to the the lower stick shaft (if that makes sense?) So the behaviour is correct in DCS, however stick position is based off the main lower shaft. The grip appears to be angled rearward ~10 degrees to compensate for the forward stick position..

I wonder, without having to make an adapter to mimic the stick position, if there is a way to compensate through software?

Will have a play with that. Obviously with that solution there will be a loss of range of motion in one direction..

Perhaps a physical angled adapter might be the only perfect solution.

this maybe not applicable to your issue, but just in case, in all WWII fighters if you add a 'curve' to the pitch axis then DCS FFB moves the FFB spring center forward and it no longer matches the stick center

I have certainly noticed when flying the F-14 with the Rhino that upon loading a session in flight the stick moves way forward resulting in a violent pitch-down. Once that's been trimmed back out there's no issue for the remainder of the flight.

The fit and finish is excellent on the Rhino itself, including the 3d printed parts which cover the tension knob, fan covers, large pulleys, and stick connection thread adapter.

I plan to use the VKB curved 20 cm extension with mine, although IIRC I measured the total distance from the actual gimbal to the grip and a 10 cm extension might be closer to what I have now (VKB Gunfighter base with the 20 cm extension).

not that I've noticed, I already have the gooseneck. I plan on keeping the viper grip mounted sidestick. I was debating on whether or not to just get the winwing fssb specifically for that, and have the Rhino center stick for everything else.

I have that extension on my mongoose base. I've used it for a couple years now with a TM warthog grip. It is canted, but I've never had any problems with it. It puts the center of the grip back over the center of pitch rotation

It would need to angle rearward. Looks like the virpil one angles forward. I think I'm going to print a custom short one that angles rearward. See how that goes.
