Putting this here rather then #general but I found this
Error -59 is a generic error message that may occur in DaVinci Resolve when there is an issue with the media or the storage it's located on. This error can have many possible causes, but some common ones include:
The media file is corrupt or damaged
The storage location where the media is stored is full or malfunctioning
The media file is not compatible with the version of DaVinci Resolve you are using
The GPU driver is outdated or not compatible
Insufficient storage space on your computer
Which honestly doesn't really help lol but might give you a starting point for trouble shooting
true but thanx!
Also going to post this here just incase others run into a similar issue. We can continue the convo here if you like
But yeah, from what I see, you're recording format is MKV and a quick google search shows that Resolve and MKV files can be a little iffy. Hopefully changing to MP4 can help
Have you tried updating your GPU drivers? Made sure you got enough space on your hard drive, tried saving the file to a different hard drive?
yep i have
i have an extra 2tb hard drive for my editing stuff
What verison of Resolve are you using? What are your PC specs, CPU, GPU, Memory?
DaVinchi resolve 18
Memory 8GB
Gpu MSI GTX 770 2GB
CPU Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-3220 CPU @ 3.30GHz
not the best pc but it worksđ
Yeah should honestly be fine.
Can you try this
Go to the menu âDaVinci Resolveâ -> âPreferencesâ -> âSystemâ -> âMemory and GPUâ -> âGPU configurationâ for âGPU Processing Modeâ and âGPU Selectionâ, uncheck âAutoâ and select either âCudaâ
the only option i have is Open GL
Do you see your GPU listed there?
Or only CPU?
yes
gpu only
Show a screenshot?
Ah yeah I think I see one issue
The free version of DaVinci Resolve doesnât support GPU (or hardware acceleration) for decoding. The decoding is taken care by CPU.But even then I don't know if enabling it would solve the issue
damn
Wait, can you click
If you can, then maybe check the dropdown box next to it
i did
it was like that at defult
Alright, I'm going to download it and try it myself lol will let you know if I find anything else
thank you!
if you have a suggestion for a free video editor other than DaVinci if we dont fix it id appreciate it lol thats if we cant fix it
I've only ever used Premier Pro lol but search "free" in #help-and-advice and you'll find plenty of recommendations
same here but i pirated it and redid my windows and lost the link lol
thanx
So right off the bat I can enable CUDA, and have no issue importing an mp4 recorded from OBS.
Might be worth uninstalling and reinstalling maybe?
maybe
