BIt’s based off how many people are around you
HIt increases based on:
- The number of people around you;
- Your location: at the observatory and at docks, your multiplier will start from 3.0x, instead of just 2.0x.
HYour points, instead, will depend on a few factors, like:
- The preset you're using;
- The drifting angle;
- The speed you drift at;
- How good of a drifter you are; etc.
Nthe preset is irrelevant here
Nscore does not depend on presets
HWhat was meant by that suggestion is that if you use a preset allowing your car to go at slower speeds, your points will increase slower. So it partially is, explaining why newer users tend to be unable of immediately making chains with more than 10mils in a few minutes. That's also why Fast Drift or Formula Drift presets are "better" than custom presets #1 to #4.
BSince the new update, everyone gains score at the same speed, so choosing presets doesn’t matter anymore
BTurning on drift collisions will also give you an increase on top of the current multiplier
HWell, the preset defines not just the speed but also the angles, and how your car react to drifting (included but not limited to traction). I've two different custom made presets:
- A very fast one, that allows me to make, following the same path at docks (with drift collisions on) 10mil in less than 5 minutes);
- A slower but more realistic one, that allows me to make 10mil in about 10 minutes.

BPresets mattered before the update, however with the new drifting system, everyone gains score at the same speed which means it takes longer to gain a chain
NSpeed and angle is still taken into account
NBut since the update yonks ago how much score you actually gain from speed is capped to 30MPH or so
