Does switching Proton/Wine-GE versions lose game save data?
Above question, I want to try a different variant of Wine/Proton and don't want to lose my save data in the process (or need to back it up/move it in case)

if you switch from Wine to Proton or the other way
it's because the structure of prefix is different for both
for wine it's
/path/to/prefix/drive_c
for proton it's
/path/to/prefix/pfx/drive_cmagic-amber•3y ago
to add on what linguin said, you don't lose the data (if you go back to the previous wine it's still there) but you'll have to move it to the corresponding prefix folder
