Nothing wrong with that if it fits your use case. Even if you compare Cloudflare as a plain DNS Host vs other providers, Cf has a lot of features. Unlimited DNS Queries, Anycast DNS (yes some providers charge extra for this), super low latency, free DNSSEC support, CNAME flattening on Apex
No, normally it would extend you another year. But, since you're already renewed (as I understand it) to the 10 year max. You wouldn't get the transfer +1 year.. (because it would be >10 years).
You'll either 1) get an error saying it can't transfer because it would put the registration >10 years. Or 2) it will process, you'll get charged for +1 year (by CF the new registrar) but the only thing that happens is the registrar owner will change.
