I have done one last night, I'm 100% sure it can work. But might not be on 100% of accounts or there might be limits on Access plan types.

There should be a "add new domain" text just under the domain field of the policy.

You have most likely configured it wrong. Can you share a screenshot of the policy?

But after I'm clicking save everything back to default which has only *.xxx.pages.dev
