Sanyo 4028 Fan runs at 100%, regardless of what speed I set it to.

Hello, again! Been a while! I haven't worked on my printer for a bit and just started digging in to it again a few hours ago. I am having a new issue where my fan won't operate at less than 100%. This wasn't an issue before. I've gone over my settings and wiring and I can't find errors so far. I'm uploading my printer.cfg and a picture of the wiring. I'm using a Octopus 1.1. I also tested continuity from one end of the PWM cable to the other and it's not broken.

https://os.ratrig.com/docs/guides/4028#my-fan-runs-at-100-until-klipper-boots What is the yellow wire doing since it isn't shown in the wiring diagram?
Connecting a 4028 fan | RatOS
4028 server fans are becoming a popular option for part cooling because of their light weight and great pressure and flow rates. In this guide we'll go over how to connect one and use it for part cooling. 4-pin fans usually aren't used in 3d printers, and many boards only provide 2-pin ports, but fear not! There's always a way.

There's the big red warning about not connecting the tach wire as it can fry your board

I've already removed it from the board and adjusted the printer.cfg file. I've also pored over every letter in that documentation and made sure to never disconnect my negative cable from the fan to the TH0 port. I've made evvery change I can think of, but it still isn't working. I'm even using a brand new Octopus board that I installed this morning. No change. That big red warning says don't be dumb enough to disconnect your ground cable while it's powered, not that you absolutely cannot used the tach pin. I had it all running before. Not sure what's changed.

Try a different fan port for the PWM

I tried that with the previous board, but not this one. I'll test that right now. No change. (I did make sure to change the pin: entry as well) I tried a different heater port as well.

So it's a brand new fan and a brand new Octopus 1.1 that I flashed earlier and is running fine, aside from the lack of PWM control.

i have the same issue. i tried to connect the 4028 directly to the fan ( pos and neg in same slot, not using the ground on he1 ) and it works and pwm too but once i want to avoid the 100% at boot with the given wiring in doc, it doesn't work anymore. i checked the voltage and i receive only 9,5 v with that solution ( from the doc )

Sorry for the late response, so i took a look at your printer.cfg and my guess is your problem is that you haven't put your override in the override section. Klipper config merging is chronological (it wouldn't make sense otherwise), so your toolboard config is overriding your [fan] configuration because it's way too early in the file. Please make sure to read the RatOS documentation about includes and overrides. The USER OVERRIDES section is there for a reason. That indicates something is shorting, possibly your fan. Be very careful and always tripple check your wiring.

Everything is working smoothly actually... How would I have a shorting ? For now I use the printer With it going 100% till klipper is up.

For example if you have the tachometer connected while using enable_pin. The 12V port should read roughly 12V output. 9v is too low. Anyways if the enable_pin part doesn't work, you've either wired it wrong or configured it wrong @shifubrams please start your own post and post your printer.cfg and post a pic of your wiring.

Yes, sorry thought this was linked.
