ESO Online -- Launcher Issues
after first launch / crash
Set d: to heroic folder via winecfg
Instaleld .Net 48 via winetricks
After Launcher install get a blank screen (no launcher displayed) AMD/Wayland
if winecfg virtual desktop is enabled I can see the launcher (sometimes)
Attached last play log
Very first install I made to the acount linking section, I have deleted everything multiple times and have not made it that far again

Uninstalled, deleted prefix, deleted remaining folder inside games/heroic (any other location that needs purged?)
Most likely unrelated, but:
"launcherArgs": "PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%",
That's not how that works. To use WineD3D, simply uncheck DXVK. Not sure why you'd want to do that thoughmolecular-blueOP•2y ago
yeah - sorry, was trying different things from ProtonDB it didn't work with or without that
Fired up Bottles - Installed Epic - Installed ESO (had to add .net48) and it is currently installing after asking to login via browser window -- just wanted to see if I could get any farther, BTW Heroic and Bottles the mouse is very slow in/near the launch window? (AMD, Wayland, Nobara37)
60gb remaining - the download server must be pretty slow (50mb/s of my 1000mb/s connection)
Bottles crashed at ~48% and was never able to get back to that spot
something to do with the launcher?
As far as I know @OOOOOF123 got the game running, maybe he's able to provide some pointers here

I can't repro any of these issues lol
Game just works for me
Try disabling mangohud

the download server was pretty fast until the epic promo

Will try that tomorrow - messed with it for entirely too many hours today
is there any kind of cache or other location where Heroic may be storing information on the ESO install? trying to figure out the inconsistentcies
disabled magohud in goverlay (global enable toggle)
cleared heroic cache
installed ESO launcher (latest GE 8-12), first launch to get error
added d: for install /home/games/heroic/
added dotnet48
restarted (for mangohud disable)
I received this error (new)

Fix .NET Framework 'This application could not be started' - .NET F...
Learn what to do if you see a 'This application could not be started' dialog box when running a .NET Framework application.

launcher window opens, but nothing is rendered
if I log out of wayland, and log in to X the launcher renders

and the mouse "slowness" on or near the launcher I was experiencing in wayland goes away
in wayland if I emulate a virtual desktop @ 2560x1440 I can render the launcher (at least it worked yesterday, not working today - instead nothing visibly launches)
...and WINECFG no longer launches either

log from today
switched to Wine-GE-Proton8-8 and I can get a launcher in the wine virtual desktop in wayland (and access WineCFG again)
enabled legacy icon support for AppIndicator Gnome extension (which breaks VRR atm) and the launcher works in Wayland (but laggy / slow mouse response near or on the launcher and the account / store etc. buttons do not launch browser (firefox)
disabling AppIndicator Gnome extension looks to function the same as disabling legacy icon support -- https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/615/appindicator-support/
ESO launcher options - start on bootup unchecked gets me a laggy launcher in wayland with AppIndicator legacy off (improvement) installing now -- fingers crossed
There was a weird interaction I was stumbling thru -- on the left of the launcher click games - Elder Scrolls Online -- the install button will appear on the bottom right, for whatever reason that navigation was not intuitive from me after my account connected
Installation Success! Now I just need to sort out my account code / security question
exited out, relaunched and back to no launcher on wayland
double clicking the wine tray icon in the little white box appears to bring up the launcher
everything is perfect -- FYI only use the zosESGStarter.exe, otherwise will fail to authenticate (Bethesda Launcher is in a subfolder and will load, but game will not authenticate)
