Guys who are in decent shape but got them big ole hockey/cycling hips/legs...
what do you wear to look slim and fashinable but still not skin tight? I try to go with tighter pants and a looser fitting top. Any pictures or links to examples is much appreciated!

I wear looser fit everything because I'm fit and in shape and you can tell that just by looking at me, and I don't feel the need to have my clothes accent every contour of my body. Also, all my workout gear is skintight and I can have fun with other silhouettes in my normal clothes.
I feel. It's like my chest and legs pop out of everything, and im not even close to the best shape I have been in
Perhaps my best path is to continue to lose the football weight, get some lean mass, and keep doing what im doing
focus more on style than fit
Straight fit pants, skip the skinny fit. If you want the tapered look, you can lean to Lulu for their pants

The lululemon abc dress pants are by far the most comfortable pants I've ever worn. How do they stack up against a 500lb squat though?

tappered as in a bit more snug below the knees, but more loose above?
Tapered below the knees
100% cotton and 99% cotton 1% elastane are both great
beauty. helping me find the right words for my thoughts
honestly straight fit >>> tapered/skinny
the small % of elastane is a life saver
my favorite pants have this
yeah a little elastane is very nice
awesome you guys really helped but mnoy thoughts into words I will know what to look for tonight
updating that pre-covid wardrobe u know
I'll check out Lulu and the Levis'
I often pair straight/looser pants with more form or slim fitting polos, shirts, etc. I find the contrast nice works well for my body. (Former competitive power lifter but transitioned to cycling 3y ago so my legs and hips are my challenge point with all clothing)
For sure the rule is one part tighter one more loose. I gotta a bit more gym to go to wear tighter shirts but will keep this in mind
this is not a rule, but it can work fine.
Sounds more like a recommendation for people who broadly aren’t sure about how to style proportions on themselves, i don’t think you should stick to that
a rule*
goals tbh
hmmm I think there is a lot of focus on the big legs but not the hips part.... The genetic part ya know
the hockey ass too lmao
not to nit pick but I also stay away from "tight" - but I know slim can be a vague word. I think brooks brothers slim fit pique polo is a great fit, some older Banana republic dress polos, Suit Supply cotton/silk polos, are all examples of what I mean though. None are tight/revealing but still flattering IMO
wonderful
this is great stuff
If you are in shape pretty much every designer in fashion has designed clothes for you. Unless you are a significant outlier (we're talking bodybuilders and genetic freaks) then you don't need to worry about dressing a "fitness" way. You can just wear clothes you like.
Yeah most clothing brands outside of performance specific ones have a fixed ratio between the waist and length so the higher you go for the waist the longer the length. Really annoying, but there are good options out for for sure.
this, literally, isn't true - many brands sell multiple leg lengths. Even if it were, shortening the legs, which is the issue you'll come up against is a really simple and cheap alteration.
the only place I can think of is like untuckit that would solve that problem
for pants 100%. I am actually okay when getting pants. It's tops that are tough. That can help me look a bit more slim like my legs (when wearing tapered pants) despite the broad chest and waist
whoops you’re totally right, ignore my previous comment. i’ve been buying pants with fixed and limited sizes for some time now
wow look at this well proportioned guy here woooooow
My style inspos for muscular build (idk if they work on their legs lol) are:

time to look at men
hahaha it’s more like, if they don’t fit, i don’t buy those specific pants!
Tapered pants make people look like a damn carrot. Esp if you do truly have wide hips. Go for a straight cut
I will be sure to check these out as well. I think my favorite pants are labelled "Slim straight fit"
i dont think my calves fit into full-skinny anything
Buy less skinny pants then.
I'll look for the slim-straight I think, I will look into everyone's suggestions for tops
Pleats and slight taper
my thighs and ass are so big buys slim cut
this seems to highlight the waist, which is the opposite of what I want to do
tucking in shirts does not work for me at all
You’re overthinking it
you guys realize these guys are all wearing straight cut pants right?
i don’t know if you read my other comments in this thread but yet i like straight cut over tapered…
Would look better with no taper
Maybe I should add some detail. I'm trying to find descriptions of men's body shapes but cant find one that fits me.
It is my Torso (ribs, stomach) that is the least wide. Both my shoulders/chest and waist is more wider
...that is completely normal
I can't find a description is all!
"normal"
What do you need a description for? Are you trying to Google “clothes for pear-shaped men” or something? Just try on clothes and decide if you like them or not
to provide a more accurate description to give to y'all
people here seem to be disagreeing on stuff and thats likely because I did not paint a precise enough picture
i think it's because you're asking how to
a) look good
b) wear skin tight clothes
and those are at odds with one another
Post a picture then
I did not ask to wear skin right clothes....
Fashion is visual, pictures are best.
one moment
Hopefully can be seen easily but I'm wide at the shoulders, thin at the ribs, and then widens out again at the waist/hips
Btw if I'm an idiot at describing my own body then just let me know I'm wrong and what I should be looking for
How do you want to dress? Do you have examples of styles or outfits that you like?
Lmao why did it crop
One moment
I think you would look better in mid rise trousers like the straight fit levis 501
Agree with @ll.beansandrice we need an idea of what you like. You are normally shaped and can wear anything you like if it's appropriately sized.
I like to wear button up shirts a lot. I wouldn't wear this exact shirt with these pants but it's what's not in the wash atm
I think it is much better when left open

you have a completely normal body but that shirt looks too small on you
Yes 100% too small. I'm quickly approaching the weight I would of fit in this. So I am getting advice now
Would you say the length is off too?
if your goal is to look slim, as you mentioned in your op, wearing slim clothes isn't the answer
I think the issue here is that it's not really clear what advice you're looking for.
That's fair. I should of started with pictures and been more general
Not a problem, but we can offer better advice if you're more specific.
I'll be sure to use more pictures going forward
I guess what I am asking is what general look should I go for?
Like really beginner advice.
Even saying keep doing what you're doing is fine
#fashion-guides - basic bastard? how you dress is a (very) personal choice
Start saving pictures of looks you like, think about what links them, think about how you could do something similar, ask questions about where to find looks you like at a certain budget.

check the links chopper left. look at the waywt pics, ig, etc.

So, your style doesn’t have to be limited or defined by your body type. I have larger than average legs and wear all cuts of pants/jeans/trousers.
