i think i said it before having gnome settings screen for switching distros and/or developer mode shouldnt be first priority anyway cause that means only gnome based things can consume it we should first target an agnostic way that isnt command line (i personally if i was more interested in switching would probably just make something web based and put it into a local PWA/electron app)
well it might be usefull for testing but again that can be webui, but might also be of use as a oneoff installation program you just install it on silverblue run select a distro in gui and off you go
or maybe as a replacement for ISOS you install the installation system based on base with user creation and stuff like that in kiosk mode with final step being this app in which you select what you want it reboots and you have your install
true but we should also make good experiance rebasing because well its a valid usecase at the end of the day i rebased my laptop multiple times when i wanted to go to KDE for some insane reason but then soon figured out that i was just insane for doing so and gone back it was just pain of entering command line, my dream is that for most things we wouldnt need command line unless we wanted it in linux
99% of people dont need or want an ISO creation tool they want to just load iso onto USB and install. At the end of the day what we actually need is a better installer that can take parameters during install process like image and install said image
sure but how many do actually install enought multiple systems for this to be a useful endevour, unless we go corporate not that many specially since this kinda makes you not need to reinstall basically ever
i didnt mean post install app like that look at how i explained above (maybe as a replacement for ISOS you install the installation system based on base with user creation and stuff like that in kiosk mode with final step being this app in which you select what you want it reboots and you have your install)
basically what i said is if we had image selector app we could basically put it onto a barely there image have all the steps of ootb experiance you find in fedora(user creation...) and then just allow user to select which image they want system reboots and voila they have their system ready
I’d like to create a minimal extension that has a simple toggle button without menu. I simply want the icon that appears in the gnome panel to directly be a toggle button. I found plenty of examples involving toggle buttons within submenus, but I can’t figure out how to register a click handler on the icon directly. Any ideas? const { GObject...
A full on rebasing app could fuck up people's systems too, I've heard stories about people rebasing so many times that all the dotfiles are fucked and shit starts to get wack
