Baldur's Gate III (GOG) Opens to Black Screen

Hi all, been trying to get this game to work after reading others had success with minimal effort on protondb. After installing and selecting bg3_dx11.exe as the executable the game will open to a black screen with the in game hand cursor. At that point I am unable to close the game or do anything. I really have no idea what the issue could be at this point. Would really appreciate some help.

Dont run proton. Run wine-ge-latest. Proton is for steam and games purchased on steam
