Is using Google Drive as external backup a good idea?

I am currently planning to get rid of my 3rd VPS which I have been using for personal use (and a server backups). The only thing stopping me from cancelling the subscription is that I automatically clone server backups to it every day, so I was wondering if it is a good idea to do weekly backups (still doing local daily backups) to a free Google Drive of the world and plugin configuration, or if I should continue to pay for the VPS instead.
