Heroic does not install Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables
Hi! I recently installed Mad Max from GOG and realized that the FPS was much lower than what my system is capable of. As I have the game on Steam as well, I installed that version to compare the performance with the GOG one and it was over 100%.
Realizing something wasn't right, I checked the prefix for the Steam version. It had installed both "VC 2010 Redist" and "VC 2013 Redist" which weren't installed inside the prefix of the GOG version.
After I installed both VC Redist with Winetricks inside the GOG game prefix, the FPS was the same as the Steam version.
I tested the same thing with Death Stranding Director's Cut: on SteamDB it is possible to see that it has "VC 2019 Redist" as one of the depots. Installing it on my game prefix (EGL version) increased the FPS in around 40% to 50%.
I would like to know if it is possible to automate the installation of these redistributables somehow. I don't know if this information exists and/or is captured by legendary or gogdl.
