Haha, I'm still struggling with the concept of "open alpha" apparently I thought everything was more or less done and now it was just bug-squashing, tooling and possibly backend stuff. I'll make a feature request. Thanks
We’re still debugging. It’s deep in our storage layer which is why it only affected so few. There’s nothing unique about any of the DBs here or access patterns.
Can you expand? We have no intention of actively deleting databases users have created, including those on the old backend (we will ask users to migrate more directly closer to GA).
For example I have a hotel reservation system. What kind of interruptions can I experience while using d1 right now. Not asking for promises because I get it’s open alpha for a reason just kind of trying to understand the usual problems one can experience in open alpha
I think the best thing you can do is scan this Discord. We see very, very few issues, but not zero. There's no way for me to quantify that for you beyond that.
That’s fair Ty for all you’re amazing work. Man I love cloudflare I just really wish there was more guidance on architecture and design of productions built using services on your platform for newer engineers without much production experience.
what about D1 Limits? will the D1 database scale more than 5 GB (as mentioned in Pricing Page with $0.75 / GB-mo), or be limited to 500 MB as mentioned in D1 Limits?
I'm sorry for asking this since you heard it so many times, is there any estimated arrival time for replication? I'm talking less than 6 months / more than 6 months. I don't mind if its wrong I just need a clearer picture to plan ahead!
Which Cloudflare product(s) does this pertain to? D1 What version(s) of the tool(s) are you using? 3.7.0 What version of Node are you using? 18.16.0 What operating system are you using? Mac Ventura...
As pointed out above it’s an alpha product and you should not be using it for production. But haven’t heard of much issues recently beyond a little bit of issues 3 days ago from a migration… so might be helpful if you can actually explain the issues you are having

@Matt also seperate question. I have a digital ocean hosted non static django sqlite project that I have been meaning to give some attention to...do you think running it with D1 is possble now on cloudflare, or what would be some of the roadblocks still and do think the roadblocks would overcome in the future?
Which specific roadblocks? It's up to each user to determine how comfortable they are with a beta product. We have teams at Cloudflare using D1 for production apps but it entirely depends on your use-case and the criticality of your application.
for instance, the built in authentication using sqlite database scenario would make it a non static site. Is there a roadblock or some sqlite functionality that is not possible in the cloudflare d1 iteration that is necessary for django to run. Another note from another thread somebody is mentioning that workers is JS and webassembly only. I have only usage with standard workers and very basic d1 ussuage in my project, in a learning phase for this area, any incite you can provide is helpful.
Django cannot talk to D1 directly: "SQLite" doesn't have the concept of a remote connection, because it's an embedded database. Django would need an adapter for D1.
