It depends KV is a million times cheaper if you actually use it to its full storage amounts which arent even possible on D1 given the limits of each row unless you use multiple rows which would be annoying to do

Also one thing to note a SELECTSELECT can technically do writes and reads and afaik a SELECTSELECT will never be only 1 row read even if you only attempt to read 1 row it will always be at least 2.

KV also supports an unlimited amount of reads/writes per second (though write limit to 1/s to the same key). KV is also cached so the read performance will be way faster for frequently access values compared to D1.

D1 will always be limited in the number of reads/writes it can do and it will probably be way more on you to figure out partitioning once that is available. You could of course add cache to at the very least help with the performance of reads.

Theres also the fact that D1 is not a GA database yet so it also has way more strict limits atm especially around total amount of data you can store.

currently i have a project with dashboard where the customer has different locations. The location data is stored in kv. Sometimes a user will add a service, which would do an update to the locations kv entry, but that also might trigger a stripe webhook a second or so later which would then access that locations KV entry (which might not be updated with the new service via the dashboard action) and then write over the other kv entry. I wrote this whole thing pre-d1 existance. But now that I have d1 existence thinking rewrite might be worth it, what do you think

i'm also tracking certain stripe webhooks like failed payments, adding them to kv...but things when doing a list() call are not in sequential order...so when finding something, i might have rewrite via listing via a daily prefix but that's not ideal...and i don't think there is a way to ensure things in list are displayed correctly in sequential reverse order..unless you know of a way

I always use #durable-objects for everything it basically KV but with durable storage and better listing options. DOs can be harder to use if you dont know how to model and partition out NoSQL databases but I've spent many many years working exclusively on modelling NoSQL so its my go to

DOs are cheaper than KV normally assuming you dont need the large values of KV. D1 might be cheaper depends on the queries you setup but not sure I dont use SQL dbs to know how it might work out pricing wise

depends how you want to sort things but you can do secondary indexes pretty easily given transactional storage and you can reverse sort in DOs so that helps

That doesn't really seem like the correct way to go about this.

You should be using Cloudflare for SaaS https://developers.cloudflare.com/cloudflare-for-platforms/cloudflare-for-saas/
Or you should be setting up hostnames that you protect that your customers point CNAME records to instead of taking control of a client's entire domain. This is an example of that https://devcenter.heroku.com/articles/custom-domains

Right now your setup is more like how web design agencies or IT management shops operate, you're taking control of an entire domain. What if the client wants to use the domain for email or multiple services? They have to ask you to change all of the records for them, but you're only really interested in Plesk.

Is there a reason you need to create a whole new zone for them? Cloudflare for SaaS would still prevent them from unproxying any records which you don't want them unproxying if that's the concern.

Hi,

I need some guidance on how to configure this DNS on Cloudflare in the scenario listed below.
I have a domain registered at Godaddy and my new hosting account at SiteDotPro. I want Cloudflare to be in between Godaddy and SiteDotPro.

Since they do not provide an IP address, how do I set this config up on Cloudflare? I know how to set these A and CName records if an IP is present.
How do I set this up with the dns setup information provided by SiteDotPro?
