Which trench coat should I get - Burberry, Grenfell, or SEH Kelly?
As I have posted here before, I am in the market for a trench coat to wear over blazers and suits on rainy days during the warmer months.
I have come across a Burberry coat and a Grenfell one, both in my size and preferred colour (black). The grenfell is just over half the price of the Burberry. Besides its name, is there any reason to pay more for Burberry? Is the Grenfell of comparable quality?
From what I can tell, both have water resistant cotton and make coats in England. The higher price of the Burberry coat is curious given that they're made in Yorkshire whilst Grenfell is made in London. I've heard the Grenfell fabric is heavier weight and may not be suitable for hot weather.
Lastly, there is a company called SEH Kelly which makes a trench coat out of aramid cloth, which is properly waterproof as oppossed to water-resistant. So what do you all think?

Idk how burberry and grenfell construct their stuff but i am deep in seh kelly. The quality beat other brands double the price out of the park. It is low because they sell direct to consumer, but their retail in japan triple the price
Burberry is more expensive because it's Burberry.
Yeah, well isn't it known for quality? The reputation didn't come out of nowhere.
It's an aspirational luxury brand with history and iconic designs. People will pay for that. The quality is solid but don't expect it to be wildly different from either of the other two.
You paying higher price cause it a brand name
I think you will probably be happy with any of these so it's really a question of which you like the look of more to be honest.
Surely it reputable, but any good makers sourcing quality fabric can produce quality products

Seh Kelly is super transpartent about its makers and production facilities, as well as the design process that goes into making a garment. Buying a coat made by Seh Kelly means also supporting a true 'local' uk based brand, and customer satisfaction seems to be really high from people who bought someting off Seh Kelly. The best makers in the British Isles. Found up and down the Isles, but all, in a manner of speaking, on the doorstep.

Their process is refinement and take cue from english historical garments. All the great coats, tielocken, whatever, you name it, can find in history book or google
Transparent about where they get the fabrics, buttons, who make the stuff. You name it, the entire thing is UK made, we even talked about the thread that sewn the button to my coat
Everything they make is very substantial in weight, and well constructed

Was looking for a peacoat and I was set on this. Unfortunately Paul said they don’t do them anymore in that color. Nor are they planning to again
