Eh it depends on the rest of your style and jewelry
If this is the only ring you're wearing then yes simple would be less gaudy

so wearing more would actually make it better you mean?

If you have a lot of jewelry on that is well coordinated, something like the above ring will look less gaudy because it's blending in

Sometimes gaudy is called for, not always entirely negative anyway. Yeah, simple is easier to make look good to more people.... but if you personally like something enough, y'know, maybe it's worth exploring why and how you could style in that direction :) I think it could look nice if you don't otherwise dress too basic.
