[Win]Unable to launch Fortnite on Heroic due to Heroic still thinking its not up to date when it is.
Currently the only way to launch the game is by going into the library on Heroic and click the play button, Shortcuts don't work, including adding it to Steam.

post the log of the game and Heroic after trying to launch it from a shortcut. also post a log of a shortcut's creation from within heroic

try two things:
- click the 3 dots menu > force update if available
- once that done, if you still have it saying there's an update, check the game settings and check

i updated through epic games
how hard is it for me to convey that
this is the first time it downloads an update
the game works perfectly fine if launched directly from the library menu
last time it did this, it reset my selections and i had to reinstall half the game
my main issue is i dont want to download and install the update twice every two weeks

pick one or the other, don't use heroic and epic at the same time.

how did you add fortnite to heroic? did you import the game or used the Epic Games Sync feature? if you enable the sync in the settings it should keep things in sync with epic
we use legendary in to interact with the epic store, if you have the epic game store sync enabled in heroic's settings and it still doesn't keep things in sync it would be useful to check if the problem is heroic's or if it's actually legendary

I'd recommend checking if the problem still happens with just legendary https://github.com/derrod/legendary, if that's still failing then it's something to report on that discord probably
in the game settings > logs there's a button to open the logs folder, there should be a
legendary-....log file with the last information with get from legendary, might be useful to check if legendary ir reporting any issue (try disabling/reenabling the sync also)xenial-blackOP•2y ago

Not heroic and legendary if it always downloads the whole game in the official launcher aswell

the issue here is:
- the game is updated in epic
- heroic doesn't understand the game was updated (probably the legendary - epic sync is not working proparly)
(the complain is not that an update downloads a lot of things, the complain is that, after updating the game, heroic doesn't see it was updated)
what I want to understand is if the sync is not working because heroic is doing something wrong or because legendary is doing something wrong
what the user is saying is that after doing a forced update in heroic, that corrupts the game in epic too so it nees to redownload a lot of data
the thing is, if the issue happens with legendary removing heroic from the equation, I think it's a discussion that should happen in the legendary discord
I do know legendary has some issues with fortnite (like the download starts in a weird % for example in heroic), so maybe it also has some issues when updating it, also the fact that fortnite has the selective downloads that not many games have
I think it's worth to check:
- legendary's logs (settings > logs > open folder > look for the latest legendary.log file)
- try disabling/re-enabling the egs sync feature (maybe it runs again and it updates the metadata?)
- try using legendary alone without heroic to know if the problem is heroic or not

hmmmm looks like legendary is failing to sync the updated game, would be good to report the problem in legendary's discord, there's more people there that can help debug this problem
