Pocket Square / Tie Recommendations

Hi everyone! First time posting since the subreddit blackout. Nice to see everyone! I am attending my cousin's wedding in about three weeks. The invitation specified Semi-Formal/Cocktail attire, but I know some of my family are going to come underdressed. This is honestly the first Semi-Formal event I've ever attended, so I want to look nice. I'm going to wear a typical navy wool suit--3.5" lapels, flap pockets, notch lapel, etc.--with brown oxfords Would a nice OCBD with a good collar roll be a good pick, or should I stick with a poplin dress shirt? I have both in white, light blue, and pink What kind of tie or pocket square should I wear? I'm thinking of a white pocket square for versatility. Would a burgundy tie be a good choice? Should I go with grenadine, spotted, or some other pattern? Wider ties are in, and the width should be close to the width of my lapels, right? How is the quality at The Tie Bar? I rarely ever need to wear a tie or pocket square, so I don't really want to drop a ton of money at a place like Kent Wang. Other suggestions are welcome!

for a pocket square you can't go wrong with white linen in a presidential fold not sure on ties so I'll wait for someone else to chime in

A soft, "small pattern" OCBD is fine. Rough and big-pattern is less fine. Poplin is fine. Any of those colors are fine.

Tie Bar is probably the lowest end, cheapest ties that are worth wearing (at new MSRP.) In other words, adequate. A Kent Wang white linen pocket square is like $20 though.

I think an OCBD is too casual to wear with a suit and tie. I would also advise against wearing brown with blue; black or oxblood (burgundy, mahogany) would be better. I would say the width of your tie should at least roughly match that of your lapel, otherwise the proportions look off. As for the colour of shirt, it's hard to say without seeing you as certain colours are more going to be more flattering depending on your features (e.g. skin tone, hair colour, etc.) I think pink would be great for cocktail attire, but white is the safest choice. For neckties, I would recommend buying one used. There's not much of a reason to drop a lot on a new necktie.

There are many oxford cloths and some are absolutely fine with suit and tie. Lapel and tie width is often tread; they both should be proportional to your body, but not necessarily each other, but inevitably that means a safe width for both is pretty similar.

The knot type should somewhat proportional too
