solid watch under 100 USD?

Preferably around ~50 USD, but I wouldn't mind splurging a little. I've had a Timex easy reader in the past and I like how no frills it is (+ the indiglo lit face function when you're in the dark), but the time keeping has degraded over the past 9 years or so and I'd like a classier upgrade. I've been looking at the Timex weekender 38mm, in the grey colored face - I figure I could switch out watch bands to dress it up or down. But I'm wondering if there's any other brands/models I should consider? Id prefer watches at 40mm or smaller, analog hands, as timeless as possible. Small aside, I really dig how unique and designed project watches are, but I've read that the quality and make simply doesn't make it worth the 150-200 ish they cost.

Seiko 5 is in the same very understated vein

Timex is having a bit of a design renaissance, at that price point I think they’re the best option. See if any of the Todd Snyder models are on sale.

I had a timex weekender for a while and it was decent, but the movement is VERY loud. Like, it bothered my roommate across the room when I took it off at night type of loud. Secondhand is also an option to get something that would be over your budget normally

on the topic of the weekender I have one, but I have a chronograph and the movement on it is not loud at all. Got it for like 35$ off amazon like 7 years ago and it's my daily

There are more models of the easy reader out now, I got a second one that's a bit larger with no day date. At their low price point you might as well get two watches instead of switching bands all the time

For under $100 there won't be as many good options, but Timex and Casio are the kings at the low end. If you're cool with secondhand you can find Seikos or Orients under $100 on ebay or Chrono24 For my money, the Timex Q is the best you can do under 100

The 100 USD budget is also flexible haha I'm always down to save for a lil longer to get something that'll last me a good while I've only had quartz watches before, but I'd be interested in an automatic one if there's one in a similar price range Checked out all the recommendations, thanks! I think I've got my sights on the citizen eco-drive. Seikos are solid but I'm not the biggest fan of the metal band look

You don’t have to get a metal band You can also fully commit to the watch insanity and buy straps to swap out

Eco Drive is really nice, I like a lot of Citizen watches but some of them have over-the-top designs so be selective. FYI Seiko doesn't just do metal bracelet watches, they also have leather, rubber, and fabric bands. In this price range the leather you'll find will leave something to be desired but you can swap it out if you'd like for aftermarket straps.
